A rider since age 7. Cathy foxhunted and rode in hunter trials with her equestrian mother.  She also competed in the hunter, jumper and equitation divisions in horse shows at the Mecklenburg Hounds Showgrounds in Matthews, NC and at shows in Southern Pines and in Camden, SC.

     She recieved her instructor's certification from the Horsemanship Safety Association in 1988 and taught horseback riding for 19 years and coached at many hunter schooling shows and "C" rated shows in and around Chapel Hill before relocating to Hampstead, in 2015.

     Structuring her lessons on the same classic approach she learned as a young rider, Cathy emphasizes the fundamentals.  Students are taught the correct riding position on the flat and over fences to develop a secure seat, gentle hands and an understanding of the aids.  Cathy is well known for her work with riders of all ages.
